An Adoption Story

In Courtroom II on Monday, September 15th, I seen a miracle comparable only to the birth of my child. Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Mike and Patty and photographing their soon to be daughter. I say soon to be because yesterday was the adoption hearing. It was official at a little bit after four in the afternoon. No photographing was permitted during the hearing, which ended up being a good thing. Its hard to focus with tears in your eyes. Have you ever met one of those families and you think, "why didn't I get born into that?" Not that I do not love my own family very much, but this family gives you that impression. Luckily for Abbe she didn't have to be born into anything....they had enough love to go around.

Grandma nervously awaits with her grandsons as they all prepare for a legal document to state what they already know in their hearts.

This may be my favorite picture. The social worker that has worked so closely with this family and who has been instrumental in this adoption says her goodbyes to Abbe. All the while knowing that Abbe is where God intended her to be.

After our session last week, I put together a guest book complete with Abbe's pictures.

Grandmother, signing the guest book, so that one day her grand-daughter will know the importance of this day.

Patty pens a thank you into a card and writes the words of a poem that expresses her devotion to this little girl.

I love the details. Patty lovingly gave a rose to those people who have surrounded she and her family with support...through all of the tears and laughter.

Patty and her twin sister Terry as she gives her the rose.

Gotta love the cheek pinchers.

The food was catered by Janet Blake of Frankford, West Virginia. Everything looked fabulous and was presented beautifully. Janet is available for Wedding, Birthdays and more. I suggest you give her a call at 304-667-6996. Also on hand was Ms. Morgan who has the most beautiful voice I have heard in a long time. There was not a dry eye in the house as she poured her heart into the songs she sang. I do not have contact information for her as of yet but will try to get that on here. Im already wondering if I can plan a reception of sorts just to here her sing again.

To the Sams Family, from the bottom of my heart I thank you, not only for allowing me the opportunity to photograph this moment in your lives but I thank you for the love you have extended not only to Abbe but those who have been fostered in your home over the years. You are a blessing.
